Hello. I'm liking up with Kelly's Korner for Singles Friday. Please allow me to introduce my friend,
Kelly.
I
know—beautiful, right? I’ve known her
now for 17 years. We met in
college. I feel really old saying that. (Kelly is on the left.)
Here’s
the thing. She’s even more beautiful on
the inside as she is on the outside. Cliché,
I know, but so, so true.
She’s
just one of my most favorite people in the world, and I would love nothing more
than for her to find her special someone.
And who knows, maybe she’ll find that person via the internet?
We
serve a great God who can do anything.
So,
please humor me and allow me to brag on her a little. It’s hard to know what to write, because I don’t feel like
I can do her justice.
But,
here I go anyway.
First
and foremost—Kelly is a Christian. She
has grown a lot in her faith the past few years, and truly has a heart to serve
Jesus. She is a leader for Young Lives--a
Christian organization that teams up with mature Christian women to provide
teen moms with encouragement, guidance, and spiritual direction.
Here
she is with one of the other leaders she works with.
And you know—she is so good at
it. She is so compassionate and non-judgmental
and just really wants to be here for these young moms. Plus, she’s totally AWESOME with babies and
children.
Speaking
of which—here she is with my kiddos. My
kids consider her part of the family. In
fact, whenever I don’t have an answer to a question , my daughter promptly says
to me, “Well, Mama, maybe we should call Mae (the name she calls Kelly). Mae would know.”
And
here’s the thing. She usually does know.
Do you see how my son looks at her? He adores her, people. Even babies know she is the real thing.
And
although Kelly’s not ever been married (yet!) and she isn’t a mother (yet!),
she is just so great with kids.
Seriously, a natural. Which is
probably one of the reasons she so good at her job.
She’s
a teacher and she’s done it all—Pre-K through grade 12. She has a Master’s degree in Deaf Education,
and she's worked with some kids who are really challenged, but she is so patient
and such a great advocate for these kids.
Her
work has taken her different places—she’s lived in Houston, TX, Bozeman, MT,
and now, Boise, ID. She’s always up for
a challenge.
She
loves the outdoors and likes to be active.
She enjoys hiking and working out.
In the past few years, she’s started running. Like, in races, people.
Which
impresses me immensely. (Kelly is on the right. Go, Kelly!)
A
little bit more about Kelly:
- She is 34 years old.
- She loves coffee from Starbucks.
- Her dad was a forest ranger and spent part of her childhood in a very isolated, rural area, and she appreciates the beauty of the outdoors. But she also appreciates civilization and shopping at Target. :)
- She adores the fall season—it’s her absolute favorite.
- She loves the mountains, especially the Mission Mountains in Western Montana.
- She is a great cook. And she really knows how to make a house a home. Her place is so homey and inviting. I love visiting her.
- She is outgoing and really connects with people. People love to be around her and she has many friends who call her to do things because she is just so dang fun to be around.
- If you’re going through a tough time, Kelly is the person to call. She is a great listener and such good perspective on things.
- She has a kitty cat, Libby, who she adores.
- She is probably one of the most thoughtful people I know.
- She’s intelligent and well read.
- She’s hilarious—and has one of the best laughs EVER.
- She is a loyal and steadfast friend—she’s not someone who just has a bunch of “acquaintances.” She really cherishes her friends.
I
could go on and on, but I’ll just stop there.
